This word of mouth recruitment technique involves contracting with experienced adoptive families to share their adoption stories with others in anticipation of recruiting new families. These families also serve as mentors to families just beginning the process.
The Family Recruiters are experienced adoptive families who share their adoption stories with others in anticipation of recruiting new families. Family Recruiters are available to speak to your group or organization. They are also available to new families interested in adoption or foster care and just beginning the process.
Joe and Melissa Stewart are both natives of Boone County, WV. Joe is an elementary school teacher and Melissa is a stay at home mom. Joe himself is an adopted child and Melissa has always wanted a large family. Together, adopting children seemed only natural. By the end of 2007 they expect to have officially adopted five children. stewart@missionwv.org
Scott and Jean make a great recruitment team. Scott shares heartfelt stories about the family's experiences while Jean works the room, encouraging individuals to adopt or foster. The Smiths are currently in the process of adopting their fifth child, meaning their children will span the ages of 24 to 3. The Smiths credit their church as a major source of support in their endeavors. dscottsmith@yahoo.com
Chris and Michelle are an energetic team who approach recruitment with creativity and enthusiasm. Their fourteen years old twin daughters were adopted at the age of six and this past summer they completed the adoption of a two year old girl. They plan to retire as foster parents in order to "give our three children all the time and attention they deserve" and see recruitment as a way to continue to stay involved. schradder@missiowv.org
Tom and I have been married for 23 wonderful years. I was adopted and always wanted to look at that for an option to add to our family someday. After birthing 6 children and not being able to have more, we decided to offer our home and love to foster/adoption. Our family has grown from 6 to 10 and we have never looked back! Our journey has been full of personal growth, spiritual growth and loads of memories. As our children grow we hope to someday offer our home to young unwed mothers wanting to learn to be better mothers and to prepare them for a real chance at life. People always ask how do “you” do it? I always reply “I” don’t I am just part of a super team called my family and without their support and love there would be no I. We can’t wait to share our life with others in hope that they too will join us in our life journey of fostering/adoption." --Holly Cowie cowie@missionwv.org
