Support Group Assistance
The intention of the support group assistance program is to provide services, both supportive and financial, to foster/adoption/kinship support networks throughout the state. Grants have been awarded to networks throughout the state, funded by a 2-year grant through the Benedum Foundation. The intended outcomes of the program include:
• To improve organizational capacity of networks by awarding mini-grants and providing support.
• To provide facilitator training to all network leaders.
• To develop an adoption/foster care resource library and website.
• To increase the number of foster and/or adoptive parents by conducting annual awareness events .
• To increase participation in networks.
Resource Library
The resource library contains materials on foster care, adoption, special needs parenting, etc. Materials are available for borrowing through mail; the resource library may be used by current or prospective foster/adoptive/kinship care parents and by child welfare professionals. Borrowing requests may be sent to rprobst@missionwv.org
